I feed the squirrels and the birds on my deck. I know that many people consider squirrels to be incorrigible vermin, but hey, they are really cute incorrigible vermin.

This picture was taken through my sliding glass door as the squirrel sat on the deck rail.

They know I’ll put out more food if they start looking hungry and cute. I just can’t resist a fuzzy face.

Leapin’ lemurs

The lemurs were in fine spirits that day at the Little Rock Zoo.

Perhaps they were re-enacting scenes from their favorite Kung Fu movies.

Whatever their inspiration, it was fun to watch!

I’m often asked about my pets at work. People generally assume that a veterinarian has pets of her own. This seems to be a safe assumption. I am not personally acquainted with any veterinarians that don’t have pets. Often, vets end up with a menagerie of animals picked up in the line of duty.

Personally, I have four cats and two dogs. They were all rescued as strays in one way or another. I am sure that pictures of all of them will end up on this blog over time. (more…)
