The lemurs were in fine spirits that day at the Little Rock Zoo.

Perhaps they were re-enacting scenes from their favorite Kung Fu movies.

Whatever their inspiration, it was fun to watch!

I’m often asked about my pets at work. People generally assume that a veterinarian has pets of her own. This seems to be a safe assumption. I am not personally acquainted with any veterinarians that don’t have pets. Often, vets end up with a menagerie of animals picked up in the line of duty.

Personally, I have four cats and two dogs. They were all rescued as strays in one way or another. I am sure that pictures of all of them will end up on this blog over time. Read the rest of this entry →

Our family went to the Little Rock Zoo this weekend to see the Wild Wonders show. We always enjoy field trips to the zoo, and some well-placed PR regarding a certain adorable penguin prompted our trip.

Laura the African penguin is taking part in the Wild Wonders show (check out www.littlerockzoo.com for dates and times). The penguin exhibit is not open yet but is scheduled to open this fall. Read the rest of this entry →
